What is an Occupational Therapist?
In short, an occupational therapist (OT) is a professional problem-solver with a focus on function. Occupational therapists are specially trained to assess how a body engages in daily activities in order to improve independence, efficiency, safety, and to decrease pain with these tasks. Occupational therapists provide intervention in number of areas to achieve this goal in three key areas: Physical abilities, cognitive abilities, and environmental considerations. An OT will provide physical training and rehabilitation to improve strength, balance and range of motion to address physical limitations. Cognitive skills training can be implemented to address areas of memory, problem solving and sequencing. Occupational therapists also provide detailed analysis of your work or living environment and assist with improving the overall safety and accessibility of your environment.

Who can benefit from Physical and Occupational Therapy?
The list is endless! Anyone who is limited by weakness, pain or impaired coordination can benefit from occupational therapy services. Areas of specialty include arthritis, joint and muscle pain/strain, joint replacement, stroke, brain injury and dementia.
Do you accept insurance?
Threshold Therapeutic accepts Medicare, United Healthcare, Humana, and Veterans Affairs Community Care Network. We will discuss this with you prior to your evaluation to let you know if your services will be covered by your plan. For all other insurance carriers, services are private-pay with payment expected at the time of service. We will be also be happy to assist with billing your insurance as an out-of-network provider.
